CAINIVOROUS.

continued from x.

The still unlighted cigarette fell out of Cain’s mouth the moment his words reached him.

It wasn’t unusual already for them to fight, over things that other starfighters would consider less than irrelevant; Cain and Abel were certainly, a very twisted, sick version of a romantic relationship– Where feelings were somehow never mentioned, but always present.

In his own selfishness, his attempt to not react to his navigator’s complaints more than the usual allowed the latter words to hit him like a bucket filled with ice cold water; Left him in shock, unable to understand why would Abel say something like that

Why would Abel love him.

“ Love? What the hell do you mean with that, Abel? ”                                                                                                                             You’re damn right you shouldn’t.

ABEL WAS ANGRY BEYOND BELIEF. He doesn’t even remember what Cain had done to start such a fight, for it to get so bad that he didn’t comprehend what came out of his mouth any longer but he noes, once his fighter lowered his voice, glowering in the silence that hung in the heated hair, one of them had said something wrong ( judging by his expression, it had most definitely been him. ) So he stays SILENT. He’s staring at the man across from him & he’s completely silent & his partner seems to be shocked at what he had said; he doesn’t blame him. Abel linger in a similar state his hear rate racing & pounding in his ears. He had made a MISTAKE. ❝What—?

HE DIDN’T KNOW THE ANSWER TO HIS QUESTION. He didn’t know why he even said it but he was panicking, hurrying to figure out what his mind had pieced together in the moment he had slipped with his tongue & it’s IMPOSSIBLE to find anything at all; nothing was there to remember. Sprawled out, his thoughts were, his fingers filtering through his hair as his palms pressed to his eyes & he growls, low& quiet, at himself for saying anything at all. Abel could barely confirm that what he said was VALID.

BUT DID HE LOVE HIM? God, no; he did not. Oh god, oh god, he pleaded so, Abel didn’t love him— he couldn’t. ❝Nothing. I meant nothing just— forget it,❞ he finally says,  focused on the stars behind his eyelids as her pressed into them with his palms & he’s dizzy, because he can’t think of a time where he felt this conflicted. Abel couldn’t love Cain; they were nothing but partners, a team fighting through a war that INFECTED all of them. & that prevented them from being anything but lovers, tangled in a mass of sheets & fighting a power bigger than themselves. Their conditions denied them of that luxury & DEPRIVED them from any feeling but pain. Abel absolutely could not love Cain; it wasn’t an option; the universe wouldn’t allow it.

BUT DID HE LOVE HIM? Yes.
