CAINIVOROUS.

It was a tortuous scene to watch, in this eternal silence that came afterwards Cain’s words. The shock that caused the mere mention of that word did not let him think correctly his answer, and caused him to do it in an almost hostile way.

Still even if the fighter did not intend to sound that harsh– It was just the way he was, after all– He actually wanted to know what Abel meant. Hell, he needed to know what was the significance of that to him, why, of all things he could have said to end this nonsense discussion did he have to come up with that.

Love? Cain did not know what love was himself; How it felt, what it required, what it implied. Even if he does know, that in a situation like this, a proper response would require him to express his feelings as well. But how can he? How can he even allow himself to think in such thing as love being aware of all the things that have been and are being done behind his navigator’s back?

The only think that comes to the younger male’s mind is that he needs an answer– He needs an explanation, because Abel can’t love him. He doesn’t want Abel to love him.

Ironically, it was his mission, after all, to seduce him in order to give him something to protect– Yet...

As he witnessed the other male’s struggle to find words, and heard his reply, Cain stood up, facing him, in order to repeat the same question– Again, with the same unneeded hostility.

“ As if I can forget something like that! Don’t fuck with me! What the hell did you mean with that?

ABEL DAMNED THAT MOMENT. The few seconds it took for him to say that sentence, the words that halted their argument for sure, but brought on another. He didn’t want to speak to his fighter any longer; he didn’t have any more words to say. He was BAFFLED, he was lost; Abel was confused &, strained &, hell, he wanted to leave. He had to leave.

IT HAD ALWAYS COME DOWN TO THIS: HIS DIVINE SELFISHNESS. Though many did not see it, he was constantly concerned for himself. How he worked to feel busy, or how he helped to feel wanted. How Abel tirelessly fought for others for the SATISFACTION of feeling like a better person; how he joined the Alliance to excel his teachings. The grunts & growls he emitted in adamance to avoid that one, four letter word that had DISRUPTED his day in a matter of seconds.

HE WAS RELUCTANT. He was relinquished to his own ASININE stubborn ORNERY of refusal. Abel didn’t have the time to actively practice his love for this man. He had not mind to even consider it, & there he stood, staring down a man that had been assigned to him through business, not affections. Work & care were unrelated; the sex was merely a PLUS. They both knew that well. They both knew their limits. They bother understood what it was to be partners & they both still stood, drenched in confusion because of a four letter word neither of them understood quite well. ❝Stop this, Cain.❞

WORDS ARE LEAVING HIS LIPS BEFORE HE CAN PROCESS THEM. They tumble from his lips like an avalanche, emotion blanking out of his mind as he stared dead at his Fighter. He was no longer concerned with this. Abel had work to do. They could talk about this when they were six feet underground, rotting away with dirt in their lungs & crickets in their bones. ❝Forget about it. I fuck with you enough, & you’re damn aware of that,❞ the curses slip from his tongue like wine; Abel was drunk on the though of LOVE. ❝I meant nothing; it was a mistake. Must’ve thought of someone else, so just forget about it. I have work to do, so, if you don’t mind, get your head out of my ass, please.❞ He spoke curtly; tirelessly & firm & COMMANDING enough to confirm that Cain would not mishear him once more; he will not misunderstand this time.

BUT ABEL HAD ALREADY SAID IT. Abel had said it, & he had already accepted that he loved Cain, whether he knew it consciously or not.

ABEL LOVED CAIN MORE THAN LIFE ITSELF.
